ORIGINAL:
I had never seen the water before. It was a new and strange thing to see. At first I had been excited. When we arrived at the cabin I  I quickly unpacked my things in the spare bedroom. It was a custom of mine to never take the main, or master suite. I left it for whomever else wanted it. O(With the exception of that one time when it up in a nice apartment complex . . . or was that on the beach front . . . ) Well, wadise from that I was glad to be back on a beach of any kind or form. Since coming back from the trip to the Caribbean, I was newly excited about the water. On my trip down there I had learned how to cope with the sun, without getting burned, and without being too hot.

This new place s a whole lot better than conditions on baoard the ship.

Although, I had enjoyed living down in Port Royal, with . . . well. That is a tale I would not like to get into at the moment.

I missed the life the people I had known and had lived with. It had been one of the best experiences of my life. I missed the building that had been more than a home to me.

Now I’m remorsing about about something that I hcan never have and never go back to again.

I dismissed those thoughts from my head, turning instead to thoughts of the modern location I was at, and the beautiful beach front in front of me.

The sea was a shimmering aqua color. Some of the people strolling along the beach were dressed in regular clothes, others wore suimsuits, with shorts or an opened shirt.

After putting all of my beloingings away I changed into a pair of capris, put on a tanktop, then a white button-p shirt over that. I picked up my sandles and put the key to my room in my pocket. I left the little house and walked down to the water’s edge.

A breezed rolled up off the water, bringing all the smells of the sea. I watched the clouds scuttling across the sky and closed my eyes. I could smell the sweet scents that the water brange, those of . . .

“Are you new to the beach?”

I started from my thoughts. “What?”

I turned to the left and swaw a dark haired man, my age, standing close by,

“Sorry if I interrupted –“

“Oh! No! I was just, taking in the view.” I stammered in my response.

“Oh, Welcome to the beach.” He held out his hand. “My name’s James.”

“Catherine.” I shook his hand, then pointed up to the house I’d just left, “I’m staying at my frend’s house for a few weeks.”

He smiled, “I’m just up the beach, around the bend.”

EDITED:

I had not seen the water since returning from one of my “trips”. It was new and strange to see after staying away for so long.

At first I had been excited about being able to get away. When I finally arrived at the cabin I quickly began unpacking my things in the spare bedroom. It was a custom that I had picked up on my travels to never take the main room, or master suite. I left it for whoever else wanted it (although, there was the exception with that time when some friends and I were offered a really nice apartment complex . . . or was that on the beach front . . . ) Well, anyway, aside from that I was glad to be back on a beach of any kind or form. Since coming back from my trip to the Caribbean, I was newly excited about the water. On my trip down there I had learned how to cope with the sun, without getting burned, and without becoming too hot.

With respect, this new place is a whole lot better. And the conditions in which it’s furnished are a heck of a lot better than on board some ship. I grimaced at the memory, although, I did enjoy living down in Port Royal.

I missed the life with the people I had known and had lived with down there. It had been one of the best experiences of my life. I began missing the building that had been more than a home to me.

Oh, cripe. Now I’m getting remorseful, thinking about something that I can never have and can never go back to.

I dismissed those thoughts from my head, turning instead to thoughts of the modern location I was at, and the beautiful beach front in front of me. It was a step up from the conditions I had been living in before, but it lacked the one thing I missed the most.

The sea was a shimmering aqua color. Some of the people strolling along the beach were dressed in regular clothes while others wore swimsuits, with shorts or an opened shirt.

After putting all of my belongings away I changed into a pair of Capri’s, put on a white tank top and then a white button-up shirt over that. I picked up my sandals and put the key to the house in my pocket. I left the little house and walked down to the water’s edge. Holding my shoes I stepped into the water, standing at the high tide mark.

A breezed rolled up off the water, bringing all the smells of the sea with it. I looked up and watched the clouds scuttling across the sky and closed my eyes. I could smell the sweet scents that the water brought, smells that reminded me of . . .

“Are you new to the beach?”

I started from my thoughts. “What?”

I turned to the left and saw a dark haired man standing close by. He was taller than I was and looked to be around my age.

“Sorry if I interrupted –”

“Oh! Oh, no! I was just, taking in the view.” I stammered in my response, feeling the old-age blush rise up to the surface of my cheeks.

After all this time and I still blush around men!

“I wanted to welcome you to the beach.” He held out his hand. “My name’s James.”

“Catherine.” I shook his hand, and then pointed up to the house I’d just left, “I’m staying at a friend’s house for a few weeks.”

He smiled, “I’m just up the beach, around the bend.”

Wow, something that I wrote that has absolutely nothing to do with my original works. :sighs:

I just tripped over your ineptitude.

Thanks!

I'm going to try and elaborate some more on this one.

But how quickly we forget
Such a sure and perfect plan
And unlearn the passion
That once had burned
